It was snowing, so, it must be race day! The 2016 Shakespeare County 2016 racing season was due to kick off on the 1^st and 2^nd April, 2016. The weatherman however had other ideas, snow, sleet, hail, rain, and even a brief sunny spell meant that whilst a couple of hours action was possible on the Sunday, the weekend was a right off!

Focus was therefore switched to the next event some two weeks later which included a test and tune Wild Bunch session and the season opening round for the Good Vibrations Motorsport Supercharged Outlaw series.

A nine car field was assembled for the Good Vibrations series, a number of cars just failing to make the timescale, but, the signs are extremely positive for the future rounds.

Again the weatherman tried his best to intervene and what started as a bright and sunny Saturday morning soon deteriorated into a day of torrential downpours and sunny spells. Usually sufficiently long for the hard working Shakespeare County crew to dry the track only to see the hard work undone in a matter of minutes!

Reconvening on the Sunday a better day was in prospect with two rounds of racing completed and series points chart compiled. Sitting in the no 1 position at the end of the day was (I believe) series debutant Joel Kerr in the stunning STP wrapped Pontiac, second spot to John Reeve in the ‘El Bandido’ Altered with Andy Hadfield in the ever entertaining street legal ‘Twister’ in third place.

 With the appearance of Andrew Gallimore in the Supercharged Outlaw ranks we now have the possibility of up to six Funny Cars in the 2016 series and with the potential of a similar number of Front Engined dragsters the future is looking extremely good for this noisy, loud, smokey, exciting and entertaining series.

The next round is just a couple of weeks away at the end of May and a sixteen car field has already been suggested for round two of the Good Vibrations backed series. Can’t wait!

The always entertaining, big burnout king Andy Fadster third place in the series with the street legal ‘Twister’!

In addition to Joel, several other contenders were making their series debut, not least the stunning LA Commercials Ford Probe funny car driven by Andrew Gallimore and a spectacular and not least, sideways appearance from the ‘Acute Anglia’ belonging to Paul Dale.
