Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals
Words and photos by NDW
Nostalgia Drag World was on hand for the Corvette and Muscle Car Nationals last week in Rosemont IL. Bob Ashton deserves a big round of applause for putting on this event. If you are a car guy/Gal this is Nirvana. The event showcases the rarest of rare coolest of cool and bitchinest of bitchin cars. It also provides racers a great place to congregate in an electrifying environment. This place was alive with enthusiastic car lovers. There was a ton of bench racing, storytelling, idea exchanging and more. We had a blast covering this annual event and can’t wait till next year. Thanks again Bob Ashton and crew for the putting in all the effort it takes to present a show of this magnitude.

Chrysler hero and living legend Mr. Norm was on deck all weekend signing autographs taking photographs and telling stories from “back in the day”.
He also had a slew of Grand Spalding memorabilia for sale. This man is a national treasure.
How about an injected HEMI originally built and driven by Chrysler hero cigar chomping “Dandy” Dick Landy.
1953 Corvette cut away..Blew us away. Kudos to Ed Foss for showing it.
Another popular display for blue oval lovers was this outstanding collection of Hubert Plat Ford Drag Team cars.
The “Georgia Shakers” put a lot of fear into fellow competitors
Doug and Steve Roden from Legends Racing Enterprises brought out their newest creation. This Firebird is outrageous even by Roden’s standards.
Powered by a Legends Racing three thousand horse power alcohol guzzling behemoth motor and sporting Jim Brando artwork
This mighty Poncho gets our vote for “Best of show’. Doug tells us they are on schedule for an early 2018 debut with Steve behind the wheel.
We can’t wait. Look for a feature with action shots soon.

In the back ground is Speedy Delivery April’s hot rod.
(Left) We ran into Dave and Amy Dayton of ARS TV. They were searching for unique and interesting cars to feature on upcoming episodes of their TV show. We have taken note that Amy has been burning up all the local Autocross tracks with her slick black 67 Nova.
Don’t let the cute smile fool you, this girl can drive!
(Right) Linda Daro founder and chairman of MIRPA and her group were handing out literature on upcoming events and shows. Linda is very passionate and is doing an excellent job preserving the memories of Meadowdale Raceway.
