The Southern Outlaw Gassers once again showed up and showed out --- this time at GBO5 at the new Emerald Coast Dragway in Holt, Florida. Jessie Holmes has once again proven that he has the recipe for success when it comes to drawing a great crowd of Gassers, Nostalgia cars, and fans alike. 167 cars and 1800+ spectators enjoyed a weekend of beautiful Florida weather and great racing action.

After closing the gates in 2011, this year marks a return to racing action for Emerald Coast Dragway. Now under the ownership of Ozzy Moya and Robert Brown and managed by former NHRA race master Jim Knight, the facility underwent a complete renovation in 2016. Jamie Knight, Events Coordinator, has hit the ground running. With the success of the first Small Tire Shootout and GBO5 behind him, Knight and the rest of the staff are looking ahead toward the track’s grand opening on March 4, 2017.

New for GBO5 was the collaboration between Jessie Holmes and Joe Maddox to draw in some of the finest show cars in the area. All throughout the day spectators roamed through 114+ beautiful cars during breaks in the racing action.

GBO5 once again offered Gasser, Nostalgia Footbrake, Nostalgia Transbrake, Altered/Dragster, and Jr. Dragster classes. Even though the clouds rolled in, the rain held off for a full day of racing.
