Where else would a car guy want to be on a beautiful October weekend, surrounded by hundreds of cool custom cars, three days of drag racing and for those who like road course racing, a track next to the drag strip was in full operation throughout the weekend.
The weather was about as perfect as it could be for this event. It was a vast improvement over the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion which had yielded 90 degree temps and humidity to match. Mother Nature smiled upon us with dry upper 70s and low 80s which made for cooler track temperatures, quick ETs and fast speeds. NDRL, the Nostalgia Drag Racing League, fielded 72 cars in 3 categories. 8 members of the ScottRods' Ohio Outlaw Gassers were on hand, 3 Nitro Altereds, 5 floppers, and 2 Top Fuel cars made for an exciting weekend.
ScottRods' Ohio Outlaw Gassers: Brian Spotts and Tod Barker had a “grudge” race with their Anglia’s during exhibition runs on Friday. They took off their gloves and ran without their 5.60 index. They were only timed for the eighth mile but ran the full quarter. Tod defeated Brian’s 5.40 with a 5.13 (1/8 mile). Brian and Tod were the number 1 and 2 qualifiers for Sundays finale. Brian had his revenge during the finals on Sunday as Tod redlighted while Brian pedaled his way to a win.
