The Southeast Gassers Association stop number 6 of the 2016 schedule was at Brainerd Motorsports Park in Ringgold, Georgia.  Ringgold is about 15 miles southeast of historic Chattanooga, Tennessee.

There were many "firsts" during our stop in Ringgold, including the track itself.  New owners, Steve and Amy Farrow, had only been in ownership a little over a month and we could not have asked for a more professional welcoming than what they provided.

New member Jackie Young

We were glad to welcome first timer Jackie Young in his "Jumpin’ Jack Flash" 1955 Chevy gasser to our C/Gas class.  Another first would be the debut of Josh Owens, otherwise known as "Moonshiner Josh" from the hit TV show.  Josh has some circle track experience on dirt but has only tested his '53 Chevy gasser for a couple weeks.

Josh with his young fans

He was instantly a crowd favorite because of his off track antics but he would soon show everyone how serious he was about racing in the Southeast Gassers.  Josh made one really good qualifying pass but red lighted on the other.  He would win his first elimination round and leave the tree wheels up against David Cate's "Gassy Boy" Chevy II.  The Moonshiner would later fall victim to another red light in round two to end his day.
