A Surprise Ending To 2013
by John Dearmore
WOW…What a year this has been! There have been lots of ups and a few downs along the way. The most important thing to remember, however, is that racing is supposed to be fun. It’s also about people: The friends you have, the new ones you make, and the ones you will lose. The loss of some really great drag racers was certainly felt by many of us this year.
I guess in looking back I need to tell you of an award my company, DRE Racing, just received. Some time back, through hard work and careful engineering, my son designed a valve train product that was the best on the market. Over the years we have continued to manufacture this product and the fruit of that labor has paid off with the winning of a world championship here in 2013!
That product is our NEW generation DRE Racing rocker arms for the early-model Chrysler. You may not be familiar with or have only heard about them, but I can assure you they are a work of art and pure genius. The earlier ones were working great and without much re-design work, but we began making a few changes and improvements based on input and feedback from all the racers who were running them.
One individual who began running our products right after we started making them just won the Nostalgia Top Fuel World Championship for 2013! The chase was hard, filled with record runs and close racing (and, as everyone knows, winning any championship is very hard to do!). With several runner-up finishes under their belt and the old saying – “no one remembers who finished #2” – very much foremost in their minds, it was a very satisfying year for Jim Murphy and his entire team.
At this point I want to personally say that I am still in total shock from this morning when I opened a package along with a letter from Jim who, in appreciation of him using our product, sent us his “World Championship Trophy” – the “Wally” that he won. He believes in our products so much he gave it to us! The entire group here at DRE Racing wants to thank Jim Murphy and his entire crew on the WW2 racing staff for that wonderful gesture. We are happy for their great win and sincerely appreciate and thank them for running our products.
With the New Year only a few days away and the 2014 racing season soon to begin, you might be looking to upgrade that engine in your own race car. If so, there is no better way than to bolt on a new set of DRE Racing rocker arms.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from everyone at DRE Racing!
