The racing season in Northeast Ohio has finally begun. One of the first events of the year was held at Dragway 42, a track with a rich racing heritage, The Matcham family runs a fine facility with some great events, one of which was the IHRA Summit Sportsman Spectacular. One of the features of this race was an event within the event, called Match Race Madness. Cars of the Supercharged AA Gassers of America as well as 4 fuel altereds were the main attraction.

  Some historic and legendary cars were in attendance, names like Rat Trap, Nanook, Bradford’s and the 134 Fuel Coupe. Gassers of the Supercharged AA/Gassers of America were also there.  The altereds put on a great show for the fans as they were treated to smoky burnouts and side by side action!

  The gassers had a good showing as well. 6 cars were in the running, but in the end it was the Caged Heat 33 Willys of Alan Niespodzinski grabbing the win with a 5.10/138 over Brian Spotts It’s....Crazy II Anglia’s 5.16/138.

  The next big event for nostalgia racing at 42 will be the Rock & Race in August. If you are in the area then, be sure to check out this show, you won’t want to miss it!
