- NOSTALGIA ELIMINATOR 2 -
Garry Wheeler Jr. has his sights on a Alkydigger Nostalgia Eliminator 2 Championship, but had Jeff Cameron not had a slow start to the 2017 season, things might have been different. Cameron in the '48 Austin backed by the Dooley & Sons Hot Rod Shop was the class act at the last event in San Antonio grabbing the #1 qualifying spot and his first SHRA race win. Who would have guessed the 'Be An Angel' car would repeat that effort in Temple! Cameron's perfect 5.00 grabbed the Red Line Shirt Club #1 Qualifier Bonus again and Wheeler in the Wagoner, Okla entry was right behind him in the #2 slot with a 5.01.
Garry Wheeler Jr
These two would march to the final round to face off, Cameron using a 1st round bye and a holeshot win in the semis over Jason Scott. Wheeler took out Michael Caknupp in an all Oklahoma round 1 battle along with grabbing the Mears Mazda-Volvo Quick Reaction Time bonus, then got a gift in the semis when Bruce Dodson couldn't make the call. In the final round both Cameron and Wheeler were ready for battle, but it was over at the green when Wheeler left to soon by .005 and gave the win to the Dooley and Son's entry from Magnolia, Texas. Wheeler maintains the Alkydigger NE2 points leader but Jason Scott and Bruce Dodson are past class champs and have other plans with 3 events remaining.
NE2 Winner - Jeff Cameron

The Alkydigger Nostalgia Eliminator 3 class is nothing but a dogfight for the points championship. Dustin Bradford and Doug Morrison came into Temple in a tie for 1st place followed very closely by Jacob Reeves, Keith Darrow and Josh Moseley. Each round win or loss can have a tremendous impact so these guys were all ready when qualifying began. Morrison set the pace in qualifying with his 5.510 blast that got him the Red Line Shirt Club #1 Qualifier Bonus. Bobby Bates 5.514 run got him in the #2 slot followed by San Antonio winner Josh Moseley with a 5.53 run. With each round having so much meaning the eliminations had their drama!
But meeting in the final would be the two who came to Temple tied for the points lead, Morrison and Bradford! Morrison disposed of Keith Darrow who got the VP Fuels Closest to the Index Round 1 loser bonus in a race that took the clocks to determine the winner, got a bye run gift in round 2, then in the semis faced off with Jacob Reeves and with a double breakout Morrison advanced to the final. Bradford took out a red lighting Bobby Bates in round 1, got a holeshot win in round 2 over Phil Stegner and a gift bye run in the semis. The showdown in the final came down to a red light start by Bradford giving the win and points lead to Gainesville, Texas runner Morrison. Round 1 loses in Temple for Darrow and Moseley may have taken them out of a chance for a championship run but Jacob Reeves, Bradford and Morrison intend to make this a fun class to watch until the SHRA Championship Finals in Denton!
NE3 Winner - Doug Morrison
