2017 Spring Nostalgia Drag Race
Central Illinois Dragway
By Dan Ricks
Central Illinois Dragway hosted its 2017 Spring Nostalgia Race on June 3rd and had a great turnout of some of the best nostalgia cars in the Midwest.
This was the first Nostalgia Outlaw Quick Series race of the 2017 season, with a 14 car field that included everything from front engine dragsters, altereds, door cars and even a funny car all battling it out for the 8 qualifying spots. Pete Dove took the top qualifying spot driving the Kirkbride & Dove front engine dragster. After battling setup issues most of the day, Dave Royer managed to put his Camaro in the winners circle for the first time in 3 years!

The very popular Ozark Mountain Super Shifters came to do battle on the 1/8 mile and after battling through a close field of cars. Craig Hejda ended making it to the winners circle with a great final round. Kevin Wilson with his “Running Wild” 1963 Impala also found his way to the winners circle with the Midwest Nostalgia Super Stocks. Taking us back in time with some long burnouts and wheels up action and great side by side racing was the Midwest Nostalgia Gassers and the Midwest Nostalgia Pro Stocks.
