SHRA Wins in San Antonio cont...
Report by Chris Graves
Nostalgia Super Stock brought ten cars to competition and defending Champion Vic Corlett scored the top qualifying spot in his 1967 Dodge Dart. To this point in the season, points leader Ronnie Smith was undefeated and found himself in the semi-finals benefitting from the bye run. Smith was headed to his third straight final round to take on the winner between top qualifier Corlett and Garry Durham. With almost identical reaction times, this one came down to inches at the stripe as Durham's 1965 Plymouth Satellite went dead on 6.73 on a 6.73 to take out Corlett's break out 7.04 on a 7.05.
Back in the pits, NSS racers gathered a bounty pot amongst the racers and put the target of course on the undefeated Ronnie Smith. With a bonus of $90 in hand for the first person to defeat Smith, Durham was the only man left with a chance to do so. In the final, both drivers were dialed 6.73 and Smith jumped the tree with a -.033 reaction time, joining the many other red lighters of the night. Durham was out of the throttle early as he knew he had the win secured and scored not only the bounty bonus, but his first career SHRA Nostalgia Super Stock victory, ending Smith's impressive winning streak. Smith remains atop the points standings, while Durham jumped into second and defending Champion Corlett rounds out the top three.
NSS Winner - Garry Durham

It was a honor to welcome many staff members and supporters of the Be An Angel organization to the races and what a night it was for them as the Jeff Cameron driven Be An Angel car found the winners circle in NE 2. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to all the participants who attended the event.
