The 10th annual World Fuel Altered Nationals was one for the record books. Friday night began with the largest crowd in the history of this event. Friday was full of excitement as the altereds made their way down the 1/8 mile. Roger “Radar” Lechtenberg piloted the Nitro Madness car to a 4.02, missing the mph cone by just inches. Texas Magic Dragon put down a solid 4.16 at their first hit ever at the track, and just seeing Sean Belt in the Metal Mafia car arrive at the event was impressive enough after the catastrophic failure they had the previous week at Tulsa. They came out swinging with a new motor and ran a 4.23 putting them in the #4 spot after 1 round.

Second round of qualifying saw the Metal Mafia car improve from #4 to #2 position, running a team best 4.05.

First Round of A Field qualifying included Nitro Madness, Metal Mafia, Magic Dragon, and Might Mouse. The B Field was led by Sudden Debt, Coonhound Express, Show Me Thunder and Jim Locsi.
Anthony Whitfield in "Mighty Mouse". Anthony was the eventual runner-up in the 'A' Field championship round.
As luck would have it, when Metal Mafia made its way down the track the motor expired and put them out of competition for the remainder of the event. It was determined that Anthony Whitfield in Mighty Mouse would get a competition single, since they were to
face Metal Mafia in the second round. Following a meeting of the teams, it was determined that in order to put on the best show for the fans, Crop Duster would run against Mighty Mouse, but Mighty Mouse would get the win as Crop Duster had previously been eliminated by Metal Mafia.

As rain was closing in on Eddyville Raceway Park, the 2nd round was set to launch. In the A field, Might Mouse had the automatic win into the finals. In the other semi final Magic Dragon had issues getting the car fired and was not able to make the call. This gave Nitro Madness the competition single where it thundered down the track to a 3.95.
