The final event of the Central States Superchargers 2015 season was held at Tulsa Raceway Park as a part of the 50th Anniversary Nitro Nationals, featuring special guests Don "The Snake" Prudhomme and Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen. It was an action packed day of nostalgia drag racing on Saturday, Sept 19th, headlined by the special guest Snake & Mongoose, but also on tap was a full line up of CSS series racers as a sixteen car field jammed the pits battling for a spot in the ten car qualified field.
Entering the event, Sean Belt held the points lead by 42 points over Adam Smith and 43 points over Anthony Whitfield. Belt was unable to make the event, while Smith and Whitfield were both in the house hoping for a perfect weekend and chance to steal the Championship in the final event of the year. Two rounds of qualifying brought some awesome side by side blown nostalgia racing to the line. Brent Laney, fresh off his win at Tulsa last month, qualified number one with a 4.26 at 167 mph. Ken Singleton wheeled the "High Risk" entry to the number two spot with a 4.33 at 135 mph and Roger Lechtenberg slid the "Nitro Madness" into the third position with a 4.40 (4.04) at 182 mph.
Anthony Whitfield in "Mighty Mouse" broke on a qualifying run
Unfortunately for Whitfield, his weekend ended early when the spark plug threads were pulled out of the number six cylinder ending their ability to run on all eight and ending their hopes for a come from behind title. Smith qualified number six in the "Adam Bomb" blown slingshot dragster with a 4.61 at 151 mph and Tom Butherus rounded out the quick ten with a 4.74 at 146 in the "Rude Rat" entry. Butherus found a mechanical issue before round one eliminations, so Mark Bowman came into his position as the first alternate on short notice.
Mark Bowman in "Blown Income", ran a 4.60/173mph in round 1 of eliminations

Paul Schultz in the "Spirit of Tulsa" FED, with a nice afternoon qualifying run at 4.42/166mph
Tom Butherus boilin' the hides in "Rude Rat", with an afternoon qualifying run of 4.74/146mph
Brett Henry is always a crowd favorite in "Iron Mistress". On his way to a 4.85/147mph afternoon qualifier.
Roger Lechtenberg and Trey Newkirk got the first round of eliminations underway where the quickest two winners of the round would advance to the finals. Newkirk knew he had to get a good start and jumped the tree with a -.002 reaction time, while Lechtenberg cruised to a header flaming 4.04 at 182 mph for the win. Don Wilcox was out next to face off with the nostalgia Top Fuel dragster of Paul Schultz. Wilcox took a huge starting line advantage and his 4.49 at 153 mph got the impressive round win over Schultz's quicker 4.46 at 135 mph. Adam Smith and Brent Laney were out next in an all dragster match up. Smith was off the line first by a big margin and never trailed, as Laney went into wild tire shake and made a move to the centerline aborting his run. Smith got the win with a 4.63 at 149 mph, earning him some points, but no ticket to the finals and therefore no Championship, missing the title by just four points. With this, Sean Belt mathematically became the official 2015 Central States Superchargers Champion!
Bill Seals in "Sudden Debt". A good, hard launch on his way to a 4.50/156mph qualifying pass.
