NNL East 2014
by Ted Pappacena
The NNL East is one of the longest running model car shows in the country. NNL stands for National Nameless Luminaries. What started as a loose gathering of model car enthusiasts has grown steadily over the years to the point being held at the PAL building in Wayne New Jersey. It fills 2 gymnasiums, one being the exhibition hall and the other devoted to the aftermarket industry.
The event in itself in not a contest as the host club (Tri-State Model Car Club) does not judge any of the entries. There is a popular vote for selected themes and categories. This years’ edition was held on Saturday April 26 and was attended by people from across the country and as far away as France! Although there are many categories, I will be focusing (no pun intended) on Straight Line competition. Models can be replicas as well as whatever one can imagine as can be seen in the following images.
(L-R) Walter’s “Gunfighter” 57 Ford C/A --- Seaton’s Shaker Corvair AA/FC
(L-R) M/T Pinto F/C --- Gabby Bleaker’s AA/FA
(L-R) Ramchargers AA/FD --- Kelly Chadwick’s Vega F/C
